Ok, so I finally got a second to breathe and work out how I want to do this.
For those of you who aren’t aware, I was watching alongside the rest of Australia in despair and helplessness as we watched (and continue to) our unique country burn and the extraordinarily brave firefighters doing battle with the fires. Wanting to do something my wife suggested that I could sell some animal illustrations to support the recovery and rescue of the animals that are suffering so much.
So to support the recovery activities by the animal welfare organisations with “boots on the ground” I’m drawing twenty-five Australian animal scribbles in Indian ink and watercolour.
A lot of people have offered to put orders in and I think you are all awesome but if I open up to requests I think I’ll be buried (a good problem to have certainly but a problem nonetheless). So I’m going to keep it to twenty-five different animals, all from Australia and pop them on the Etsy store at $25 each, which, if they all sell will drop a cool $
750 625 (not sure how I added that up wrong!) into Animals Australia’s pocket to distribute to the best organisations that they’re coordinating with.
I’m going to put them all up for sale at the same time and the list of animals is below so if you want one I suggest you have a look at what’s on offer:
- Frilled- necked Lizard
- Tasmanian Devil
- Glossy Black Cockatoo
- Tiger Quoll
- Eastern Barred Bandicoot
- Brush-tailed Possum
- Sugar Glider
- Eastern Shingleback
- Silver-headed Antechinus
There are some animals you may not have heard of so definitely check those ones out as I suspect that the more well-known animals might go quickly.
At this stage, they definitely are not all inked yet but I’m going to put them up on the store at the same time so you can lock-in the one you want.
I know it would be awesome to do more but I can only set aside a finite amount of time. That said I may offer the whole set up as postcards if there is any interested in that.
Some people are champions and have offered more money – you are all awesome and please consider donating that money to Animals Australia to distribute.
The other thing I’d ask you to do is if you miss out on your favourite why not share an image (no need to tag me) and suggest people donate directly to Animals Australia.
Good luck getting your favourite animal and thank you for caring about Australia’s wildlife!
