Day 20 – Porco Rosso (1992): Porco Rosso

I’d rather be a pig than a fascist.

This is another early Ghibli film for me, I had no idea what it was going to be about and then when I saw it I just fell in love with it.

It doesn’t hurt that in the Disney dub they use Michael Keaton LOL

And don’t give me that disapproving look, I often watch these things when painting so I can’t be reading the subtitles and I speak not a lick of Japanese (maybe all of five words… maybe).

Also yes, there is a nose/snout and to be honest, I don’t think it would work without it.  It’s kind of central to the character so it’s all about the rule-breaking.

This is part of the 366 Characters from 366 Films project running throughout 2020. The original illustrations go on sale over on the Lee Draws Stuff store the same day (around 9:00 am Brisbane time) and are available until someone snaps it up.

Remember if you dig my stuff and wouldn’t mind seeing semi-daily journal entries which include sneak peeks, behind the scenes and first looks then head over to Patreon and subscribe for as little as $1 (US) a month.
