Wow, we’re finally here with a couple of days left before the new year! This has been an extremely fun ride, there were at least a couple of them that I didn’t think I could make work but I think they worked out well. They’ve certainly inspired me to take up the daily challenge again and now I can’t wait for January 1st (well actually I probably can LOL).
There was a time when Star Trek didn’t require the “TOS” to denote it, it was simply Star Trek. What an amazing franchise to grow so vast that it actually required me to check for a list of official abbreviations to set up categories on the new site. It is such a huge tapestry of stories and characters that all point towards hope.
It’s my hope that the makers of Discovery remember this amongst all their whiz bang special effects and gritty HBO story telling and ground breaking f-bombs. That at its core Star Trek is about hope, for a better tomorrow. Not an easy tomorrow and not one devoid of challenge but of that future where we didn’t destroy ourselves through petty bullshit.
One day soon, humanity is going to be able to harness incredible energies, maybe even the atom… energies that could ultimately hurl us to other worlds in… in some sort of spaceship. And the men and women that reach out into space will be able to find ways to feed the hungry millions of the world and the cure their diseases. They will be able to find a way give each other hope and a common future. And those are the days worth living for.
I love the original series of Star Trek and the films that followed and then on to the next generations of Trek. Star Trek is bigger than making a buck for a television studio, Star Trek is inspirational and it should always be made with that goal in mind. To inspire.
Thank you for following along with the 30 Day Trek Challenge, I’d love to hear which one was your favourite or if you do the challenge yourself.
