Day 57 – Escape from New York (1981): S.D.”Snake” Plissken

“I don’t give a fuck about your war… or your president.”

I mean come on?!? Who else was I going to pick in this film??? What an amazing, iconic character! I love the deliberate pacing of Escape from NY, backed by an exceptional soundtrack and possibly one of the best film posters ever.

As with other Carpenter films I think it’s great to be able to contemplate and debate the broader concepts and commentary on society contained within. Of course it’s okay to turn the brain off and just enjoy a fun romp the apocalyptic future… ummm past?

This is part of the 366 Characters from 366 Films project running throughout 2020. The original illustrations go on sale over on the Lee Draws Stuff store the same day (around 9:00 am Brisbane time) and are available until someone snaps it up.

Remember if you dig my stuff and wouldn’t mind seeing semi-daily journal entries which include sneak peeks, behind the scenes and first looks then head over to Patreon and subscribe for as little as $1 (US) a month.
